“The Talk”

From the Talk Bass forum, how a guy who calls himself Bassteban was able to have THAT conversation with his eleven year old boy:

It was easy- we were driving, flipping a U-turn when we noticed a couple of dogs going at it right in the street. The following conversation followed:
Son: Did you see those two dogs?
Me: Yeah- they were makin’ babies. The male dog puts his boy-part into the female dog’s girl-parts, and leaves some stuff inside her. Then the sperm cells get into the egg, & you know the biological part, right?
Son: Yeah…
Me: It’s pretty much the same for people, except we usually don’t do it in the middle of the street. Not usually… 🙂

Awesome! Of course, the last part, about people not doing it in the street? Well, if this were a drum forum, then all bets would be off!

I never got “the talk”. The one thing I do remember concerning being taught about this “stuff” was from….. religious school. Yep! CCD.

Back in the 70’s when I was a lad growing up in Texas, I don’t think the regular schools were allowed to discuss this topic in elementary school, or at least I don’t remember ever having this lesson. However, when I was ten or eleven, the CCD Sunday school at Mary Immaculate DID show a sex ed video, and I’ll never forget it. I don’t know if it was the embarrassment of having to sit and watch this filth in front of the old nun, who, of course, would never have had sex a day in her life, or the fact that the film was produced and distributed by….. none other than… Walt Disney!

Yep!

OK. Mickey and Mini or Goofy and his wife / girl friend were not actually in the video, but that didn’t stop us from imagining that those were the things demonstrating sex up on the screen instead of the faceless, featureless male / female things demonstrating sex and point to the naughty bit on screen! It would have been better if they had!

I often wonder if this singular episode was the main reason I didn’t lose my virginity until I was 19.
