I think, as an ad, it&#8217;s OK. The notion that it&#8217;s a horrible ad because a Polar Bear, in real life, would rather eat you than hug you, is to me, a silly criticism. <\/p>\n<p><em><strong>It&#8217;s a Commercial<\/strong><\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Like movies, They tend to take a break from reality. I mean, come on. When was the last time you ordered a $6 burger from Carl&#8217;s Jr and it looked like the burger the hot guy is eating&#8230; <\/p>\n<p>In fact, when was to last time you saw someone that looks like that eating a Carl&#8217;s Jr. <\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Talk about defying reality<\/strong><\/em>!<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t find the Leaf commercial engaging because, when you get right down to the brass tax, the Polar Bear is a poor symbol \/ proxy for the effects of Global Warming. The notion that they are rapidly declining is based on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nwf.org\/Global-Warming\/Effects-on-Wildlife-and-Habitat\/Polar-Bears.aspx\">computer models<\/a>, not on reality. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/seminole-county-environmental-news-in-orlando\/canada-s-growing-polar-bear-population-becoming-a-problem-locals-say\">This<\/a> is more likely the reality. They are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/worldnews\/1545036\/Polar-bears-thriving-as-the-Arctic-warms-up.html\">thriving<\/a>! <\/p>\n<p>Another green ad campaign that didn&#8217;t really work for me were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=O6_Edf7YHM0\">these Subaru ads<\/a>. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Nearly everything is recycled&#8221;&#8230; &#8220;And if you look around, you&#8217;ll see deer, and rabbits, (insert pregnant pause) blue herons&#8230;&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong, I like to be environmentally conscious, and I love <a href=\"http:\/\/sonicfrog.net\/?s=subaru\">Subarus<\/a>&#8230;.  <strong>But God Who The Hell Cares!  How does the freaking car drive!!!!!!!!  <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><object width=\"640\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/zVhT7P0lDfI?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/zVhT7P0lDfI?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"640\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>I like the Audi commercial best. Here were <a href=\"http:\/\/sonicfrog.net\/?p=2811\">my thoughts<\/a> about the Audi commercial when it came out. Considering that since this aired, California indeeed tried to regulate plastic bags, and GE just close its last incandescent bulb factory, I still think the Audi commercial succeeds because the social commentary underlying the comedy contains a nugget of truth.<\/p>\n<p>Your thoughts?<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>PS.
