Losing… In Retrospect.
Seeing that it’s only two days into the new political reality, maybe it’s too soon to make this comparison. But…
While looking at some of the silly press and pundit reactions to the Democrats shellacking on Tuesday, it occurred to me how much different the reaction was among most Conservative writers and bloggers in 2006 and 2008, when their supposed endless grip on power faded into the bleak inglorious sunset that was the closing years of the Bush administration:
You know, we didn’t deserve to win. We didn’t do what the voters of this country put us here to do, expected us to do. We lost touch with our core philosophies. We didn’t behave like Conservatives…
In other words, they recognized it was their own damned fault that they lost. They acknowledged they had become arrogant and drunk on power. They weren’t doing the peoples business. It’s called introspection. Now, you may not like the purging of the moderates from the party, and / or you may not believe that they’ve really changed from what they were four years ago, but at least they acknowledge they were the root cause of their own defeat.
Fast forward four years. Democrats find themselves facing the same power-sapping sunset. What is their response?
Dems, it could just be me, but I’m thinking that’s not a great way to start to win back the hearts and sympathies of the American voter. But hey, what do I know.

InstaLaunche!
And you’re right. Remember Churchill’s famous dictum that “If you’re not a liberal at 20, you have no heart, and if you’re not a conservative at 40, you have no head”? Most of the liberals I’ve been reading over the last couple of days seem intent to prove that they’ve changed little since they were ill-socialized 8-year-olds…. Of course, on the internet no one can tell you’re a dog, so perhaps many of these folks really are the 8-year-olds they seem, hmm?

About liberals being 8 year olds, I am probably going to do a post about the extensive and overuse of the term “ASSHAT”. I only know of the term because of my very liberal little brother, who went on a tirade calling all sorts of conservatives ASSHATS a few years ago… Note, that the term “ASSHAT” must always be capitalized and yelled……
I know a few conservative writers have confiscated the term, but it’s still a favored liberal epithet to use when they don’t really have anything intelligent to say.

Actually sonic the first tie I heard that term was about 10 years ago by this guy who went by Borodog on http://www.greylabyrinth.com and he was as libertarian as they come. Can’t say for sure he originated it but it caught on in our little community quick and we’ve been using it there for all those 10 years (we have many lefties but we lean strongly libertarian).
We use the term sparingly though, so you may have a point on frequency of use.
It could be akin to ‘hey daddy used a smart word! Imma gonna use that to death cuz itz cool’
