C, E flat and G walk into a bar and the bartender says: “Sorry we don’t serve minors”, so E-flat leaves, and C and G have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is diminished and G is out flat. F comes in and tries to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough.
D comes in and heads for the bathroom saying, “Excuse me. I’ll just be a second.” Then A comes in, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor. Then the bartender notices B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and says, “Get out! You’re the seventh minor I’ve found in this bar tonight.”
E-Flat comes back the next night in a three-piece suit with nicely shined shoes. The bartender says, “you’re looking sharp tonight. Come on in, this could be a major development.” Sure enough, E-flat soon takes off his suit and everything else, and is au natural.
Eventually C sobers up and realizes in horror that he’s under a rest. C is brought to trial, found guilty of contributing to the diminution of a minor, and is sentenced to 10 years of D.S. without Coda at an upscale correctional facility.
Well, it took eighteen some years, but I finally finished this lyric. It’s a song about losing a friend, someone you really cared about, and not getting to mourn “the right way” because you missed the service. Here is the backstory.
Now, if my neighbors stupid car alarm that’s screaming through my window will just stop going off, I might be able to record the scratch track.
JUST ONE TEAR
Who’s to say, that the road we take
is the one we should be traveling
Who’s to say, that the road we take
is the road we should be on
I can say I knew you, you were a friend of mine
Who’s to say, that the dreams we dream
won’t bring us our prosperity
Who’s to say, that the dreams we dream
is a life that can never be
(solo-ish thing here, slide guitar, will need help)
Without you here, life has slowing down
and any sense it made’s unraveling
Without you here, things are left unsaid
of the dreams that can never be
I can say I knew you, you were a friend of mine
I never got to say goodbye, I’m left alone to wonder why
There must be something I can say
But I guess it’s better off this way.
Things would come out fine
If I could cry just a little
Things would come out better,
If I could cry just a little…
Just one tear You were a friend of mine
The police report is here, in the middle of the page.
Synopsis: Robert Paul Johnson, age 27, lived in Mission Beach and was the manager of his apartment complex. On Thursday evening, April 22, 1993, Johnson attended a dinner party with a friend. After the party, Johnson got a ride home from his friend, arriving at about 11:30 pm. Johnson’s friend was the last person to see him alive.Johnson failed to show up for work for the next two days. Johnson’s boss, concerned over his absence, eventually contacted one of one Johnson’s friends, who went to Johnson’s apartment on April 24, 1993, to check on Johnson. Johnson’s body was discovered in the bathroom of his apartment. He had been strangled to death.
Johnson was very friendly and frequently invited people he met on the Mission Beach boardwalk to his home.
Here is my wonderful black Peavey Dyna-Bass 5’er I call Aldo II, along side most hideous bass in the world, the barely P-Bass Spider Queen, complete with frets pulled out.
And yes, for all you Linux freaks like me, that is a Gnome Desktop strap!!!
PS. Aldo I, a black Dyna 4 string I had for many years, got stolen back in 2000. Still miss that bass.
Have no idea if this is true… But I’d like it to be!!!!
i got pulled over for playing this song too loud in my car the other day and i told the cop i was? blasting AC/DC and he didnt give me a ticket because he said thats the only way to listen to ACDC…it was great! 😀
I thought this was kind of funny.
where is? bon scott these days? Haven’t seen him since his interview on Jimmy Kimmel 5 years ago. He was involved in making movies. He did robin hood with russell crowe. I hope he quits movies and rejoins ACDC. These white guys are getting old.
I am a libertarian leaning independent, so I really really don’t like aggressive government interference. With that in mind, I relate this bit of news to you.
Remember the story about the parents who had their kids taken away from them after the world found out they gave their children Nazi names? Adolf Hitler? Aryan Nation? There were also reports of possible abuse in the home.
Well, it looks like the parents have cleared a hurdle… Maybe. Apparently a judge has ruled there was no abuse in the house. I say “maybe” and “apparently” because that is what the mother of the kids is saying. The court hasn’t issued a statement as of yet.
I think I know how this is going to go down. Given the couples past history of distortion and previous contempt for a judges gag order, these people are still not supposed to say anything, and are displaying once again, as the article above puts it, their “parental incompetence”.
Just for the heck of it, ignoring the fact that these parents were inane enough to name their kids Hitler and Aryan Nation, if there is no abuse proven in this household, as the mother says, what should be done here.
(A) By virtue of giving the kids the names they did, the parents should absolutely NOT be given custody of the kids, and their names should be changed.
(B) The children should be given back under the condition that their names must be changed to something more palatable, John and Sarah, and not, say, Sirhan Sirhan or Charles Manson or Lizzy Borden, or
(C) Since there is no abuse found, the kids go back to the parent under no further conditional requirements.
Now, after some internal struggle I’ve come to a conclusion of what I would prefer to happen. But I’m not going to tip my hat any more than I have until I’ve let this go out for a few days and see what other people think. For some, this will be easy. Remember though, we’re operating under the conclusion that there is no abuse to be found in the home.
When do Conservative news outlets shy away from covering a news story? What if it’s a Marine, participating in something you don’t approve of????
The Conservative news circuit loves to note, sometimes rightfully so, that when a Democrat does something stupid or shameful, they are treated with kid gloves in the main stream media when compared to coverage of Republicans or Conservatives that get caught doing the same thing. Well, the shoe is on the other foot it appears. Some of the biggest media critics are as of this moment completely silent concerning the Marine who was severely wounded during the police crackdown on protesters at the Occupy Oakland protest.
OK. OK. I found it. Sort of. It’s not FOX News, but a link from FOX Nation, which features video from the local Fox affiliate.
Note: If they have covered this as extensively as they did the Oakland Airport incident, I will update and modify this post accordingly.
PS. Just to be sure no one confuses me for a liberal, which has been happening quite a bit lately, I am on record also blasting the media for its biased coverage against Conservatives. But, I believe fair is fair, and Conservatives should be held to account for displaying the same biases in their coverage, or in this case, non-coverage of news events.
I don’t always agree with your methods; I don’t always agree with some of the more extreme views on display; and I can’t stand the whole bused-in and paid-for bodies that are there mixed in the crowd. But, that said, I absolutely understand why many of you truly feel betrayed by the system.
Here are lyrics I wrote last week for my duo project Taylor Martin. It’s not quite complete, there will be a few changes as we mate the words to the tune, as this is not quite a finished project.
Thanks For Nothing
♫ Been working this dead-end job, for too many a year
Got nothing but an empty wallet, and a fist full of tears
You think they’d be grateful for the hard work I’ve put in
Thought they were, now I’m out on my rear
I’ve slaved and I’ve cried
And I’ve bled for the firm
Instead of a gold watch
I got nothin’ in return
You play by the rules, like they taught you in school
Paid all my taxes, they collected my dues
Yet here I am in the unemployment line
Man, I’m the consummate fool
Come into work
But the factory’s closed down
Here I thought I was swimming
But it turns out I’m drowned
In an ocean of debt, not a lifeguard around
And the Riverboat Wall Street with my investments ran ground
My financial house was solid and sound
Till they foolishly broke it all down
Now my eyes are wide open, finally I see
It pays to be dishonest, to lie and deceive
Some thins in life, are just what they seem
So much for the American Dream
So much for the American Dream
Say goodbye to the American Dream
Say goodbye to the American Dream ♫
In response to someone calling me a liberal and Truther for saying the Star Trek DS9 episode “In the Pale Moonlight” is somewhat analogous to the Global war on Terror concerning torture and Gitmo. I was on another thread issued this challenge:
Hey, sf – You could rewrite it to touch upon your crypto-Troofer beliefs and “Boooshitler tortured!!1!” canards. Then, when people point out the indecency of it, you can say there’s no point in discussing it – as if you hadn’t been the one to introduce the subject 🙂
To which I replied thusly:
Don’t Label Me Bro!
♫ I sure wish you would understand,
that some things are not hand in hand
you misrepresent what I believe
and go on to twist and to deceive
The facts that normally are so clear
are distorted based on a thin veneer
of over zealous patriotic zeal
I’ll set you straight here’s the deal
I don’t believe that George Bush lied
or is happy that some people died
I don’t believe that Cheney’s bad
though he often seems to be quite mad
The Truther guys well they’re insane
Mohammed Atta flew that plane
it was islamofascist asshat clowns
that brought those two great buildings down
I’m not a lib not even close
that accusation is quite gross
If you want some written proof
It’s on my blog and that’s the truth
On water-boarding I hold fast
my opinion’s derived from the past
From Nam, Korea, and way back when
T’was considered torture and has always been
If Iran were to catch a guy
and turns out he’s an American spy
Then they went and did the same
your collective heads would be aflame!
Listen carefully to my words
Pidgeon-holing is for the birds
to stereotype me it’s just plain wrong
the folly of blind ideologues!!! ♫
Keep in mind I wrote this on the fly when challenged this morning. I’ve become a lyric-writing machine!!!!!
Today, I am pleased to submit to the Congress the enclosed legislative proposal, the “American Jobs Act of 2011,” together with a section-by-section analysis of the legislation.
The American people understand that the economic crisis and the deep recession were not created overnight and will not be solved overnight. The economic security of the middle class has been under attack for decades. That is why I believe we need to do more than just recover from this economic crisis — we need to rebuild the economy the American way, based on balance, fairness, and the same set of rules for everyone from Wall Street to Main Street. We can work together to create the jobs of the future by helping small business entrepreneurs, by investing in education, and by making things the world buys. Read more »
