I’ve been having a problem with my bridge pick-up. From all appearances, it’s a Seymour Duncan Duckbuckers SDBR-1. It doesn’t make a sound when in switch position 5. I’ve had the problem before, and I’m certain it’s a wiring issue, not a dead PU. This has been a recurring problem. The last time I took the pick guard off to fix it, it started working again. I was lazy and didn’t dig into the problem further. I’m thinking the white wire from the pick-up to the 5 way switch needs to be re-soldered. It just doesn’t look like a very good solder joint. Here is the wiring as it stands pre-repair.
Yes, I’m going to clean that up a bit. I found the wiring diagram for this pick-up, and noticed a problem. The red wire from the pick-up is grounded to the volume pot, but, according to the diagram, it looks like it should be soldered onto the switch with the white wire. But the official SD diagram features different wire colors. Here’s the diagram.
Now, I work around electronics on a regular basis, so I’m fairly certain I’m right. However, I have no problem getting advise from those with more experience than I on matter of guitar repair before I make the change. After all – I’m lazy, and the last thing I want to do is have to tear into the guitar yet again because I screwed up something that was right to begin with.
PS. My strat is “vintage” Japanese mid 80’s, and has the single row switch. While I’m in here, any cheap mods I should consider???

C, E flat and G walk into a bar and the bartender says: “Sorry we don’t serve minors”, so E-flat leaves, and C and G have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is diminished and G is out flat. F comes in and tries to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough.
D comes in and heads for the bathroom saying, “Excuse me. I’ll just be a second.” Then A comes in, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor. Then the bartender notices B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and says, “Get out! You’re the seventh minor I’ve found in this bar tonight.”
E-Flat comes back the next night in a three-piece suit with nicely shined shoes. The bartender says, “you’re looking sharp tonight. Come on in, this could be a major development.” Sure enough, E-flat soon takes off his suit and everything else, and is au natural.
Eventually C sobers up and realizes in horror that he’s under a rest. C is brought to trial, found guilty of contributing to the diminution of a minor, and is sentenced to 10 years of D.S. without Coda at an upscale correctional facility.

I am a libertarian leaning independent, so I really really don’t like aggressive government interference. With that in mind, I relate this bit of news to you.
Remember the story about the parents who had their kids taken away from them after the world found out they gave their children Nazi names? Adolf Hitler? Aryan Nation? There were also reports of possible abuse in the home.
Well, it looks like the parents have cleared a hurdle… Maybe. Apparently a judge has ruled there was no abuse in the house. I say “maybe” and “apparently” because that is what the mother of the kids is saying. The court hasn’t issued a statement as of yet.
I think I know how this is going to go down. Given the couples past history of distortion and previous contempt for a judges gag order, these people are still not supposed to say anything, and are displaying once again, as the article above puts it, their “parental incompetence”.
Just for the heck of it, ignoring the fact that these parents were inane enough to name their kids Hitler and Aryan Nation, if there is no abuse proven in this household, as the mother says, what should be done here.
Now, after some internal struggle I’ve come to a conclusion of what I would prefer to happen. But I’m not going to tip my hat any more than I have until I’ve let this go out for a few days and see what other people think. For some, this will be easy. Remember though, we’re operating under the conclusion that there is no abuse to be found in the home.

When do Conservative news outlets shy away from covering a news story? What if it’s a Marine, participating in something you don’t approve of????
The Conservative news circuit loves to note, sometimes rightfully so, that when a Democrat does something stupid or shameful, they are treated with kid gloves in the main stream media when compared to coverage of Republicans or Conservatives that get caught doing the same thing. Well, the shoe is on the other foot it appears. Some of the biggest media critics are as of this moment completely silent concerning the Marine who was severely wounded during the police crackdown on protesters at the Occupy Oakland protest.
Nothing to be seen on Drudge.
Nothing to be seen on Instapundit.
No mention of the injured Marine on either site.
Why?
At least FOX News is covering it. Nice lengthy coverage too! Headline:

OK. OK. I found it. Sort of. It’s not FOX News, but a link from FOX Nation, which features video from the local Fox affiliate.
Note: If they have covered this as extensively as they did the Oakland Airport incident, I will update and modify this post accordingly.
PS. Just to be sure no one confuses me for a liberal, which has been happening quite a bit lately, I am on record also blasting the media for its biased coverage against Conservatives. But, I believe fair is fair, and Conservatives should be held to account for displaying the same biases in their coverage, or in this case, non-coverage of news events.
