Global Something
![]()
OK, so we in the US may just have experienced the hottest year on record.
What about the rest of the northern hemisphere?
What about the rest of the world???
After all, we are supposed to be measuring “GLOBAL” warming trends, aren’t we?

Crossing The Line.

In honor of a friend who just lost his mother, I want to share his blog post describing the lovely woman. She seems like a woman we all could love and admire, and would love to have had as a mom. I empathise with him, since I recently lost my father. It’s always hard to adjust to the loss of a loved one. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to blog about it at first; it’s a private thing after all. But I felt a lot better after describing and sharing some of the ways my father helped shape my life.
Since I moved my blog, I figure I would go ahead and make a special section containing the posts I wrote about him. One thing I like about WordPress is that it is easy to file posts under different catagories. Here are the thing I have written so far:
Periodic Table Of…..
Visualization. Check it out. This could be a good tool for teachers.
Hat Tip: Digg.
Mineral Of The Day
Why have a mineral of the day? Why not! I am a Geology school drop-out after all!
PS. I have a great photo of the stuff, but I’m still trying to figure out how to post jpegs and doo-dads on this thing.
So Much Bloggy Goodness!
You know how I love a good conspiracy theory, judged not by validity but by creative and imaginative content. Well, here is one from the guy over at Confederate Yankee, via Insta-P, explaining why Negroponte is volunteering to take a demotion in cabinet positions:
Negroponte is moving in to be in a position to take over for Rice, but not because Rice is going out of office, but up. Vice President Dick Cheney will resign due to much more plausible health problems (the poor guy has worn-out defibrillators, hasn’t he?), and Dr. Rice will step in as our first female Vice President sometime during the summer or early fall of 2007. She will then be “pushed” into running as the Republican contender against Hillary, setting up our first guaranteed female president as a result of the 2008 elections. At this point, Pat Robertson will quote some obscure translation of the Book of Revelations and declare this is proof of the End of Days, at which point we all laugh at him.
Gotta love it! Insane and goofy, yet, the way things have been going in politics, completely plausible!!!
Over at Volokh, there are a couple of interesting post. One, concerning people who are mislabeled as “global warming skeptics“, is timely as it touches on a topic I was discussing with my friend Dan, the drummer in Rare Form. The other is on the BBC’s assertion that the Brittish are becoming a nation of Vicky Pollards! I find this post fun, as I have always been a fan of British humor – “It’s Only A Fleshwound!!!” – and coloquialisms. There’s a reason why I have always loved the British band Squeeze …
First… No, Second Time For Everything.
So, Welcome one and all to the new blog! I promised there would be some changes, and here they are. Of coarse, “one and all” consists of a small club of members including Scoot, CD, Young, Hot-Straight-JohnnyRockstar (who is either pissed at me or blushing), fellow RareForm‘ers Dan and Cliffie, (the latter two are of the non-commenting type of visitors), and any strays who are wondering by and decided to poke their heads in to see what all the quiet fuss is about. Malcontent, Bryan and Sarah, and JohnnyRS have all recentely changed their blog in some manner or another, and I certainly didn’t want to be left out of the game, peer pressure being what it is. Now if I can just figure out how to activate the spell check on this thing…..
There are a few reasons why I am now using Word Press instead of Blogspot as my blog pad. Blogspot was good to me, but as they say “Stay Tuned” for more on the blog switch-er-roo.
Oh, here is the link to the old blog.
