I really need to give Ubuntu another try. It’s just so much easier to stay with what I’ve got right now and not have to find compatible versions of all my programs.

Actually, she has a virus / trojan that is not removable, almost certainly a root-kit type. She will be reinstalling XP in a few days, but I want her to try Ubuntu first. In years past, Mom and Dad were using dial up, and the service in her area did not have log-in software that was Linux compatible. Now she has DSL, and since the log-in is web based, that limitation is resolved.
