Why Rush Limbaugh Is Bad For The Republican Party.

In response to a post extolling the virtues of Rush Limbaugh over at Gay Patriot:

Exibit A: Tyrants (i.e. California) Wants to Ban Black Cars. Over the past several days, I have heard this repeated over and over on conservative talk radio shows. Problem is, It’s False!

There are many reasons to despise the current government actions of both California and the national government. But the Republican brand MUST be the honest broker in this debate, a step above many of the liberal hacks. As long as the party follows the lead of Limbaugh, and he continues to lead the party on blatantly false diatribes, well, who will take you seriously.

PS. I’ve been really busy and haven’t had time to blog. Will improve in future.

You miss my point. I see Rush as one of many voices for the conservative cause. Yes, we should be honest, but we also need Rush’s “no-holds-barred” approach.

Rush is bad only if he comes to define the party; he’s good when he’s one of many voices defining the conservative movement. And that’s my point. 🙂

Personally I see both parties as corrupts. Polemics on both sides, like Limbaugh and Olbermann, do little to help their causes.

Rush is bad only if he comes to define the party

But he DOES define the party. If you ask the average man on the street, “can you name a Republican legislator”, most would not be able to name even one. What do you think would happen if you asked “Name a prominent Republican”? Who do you think the most mentioned name would be?
