Japan Says “iie” To Kyoto
The treaty, not the city! (“iie” is Japanese for “no” by the way). What do the Japanese mean by “No”?
βJapan will not inscribe its target under the Kyoto protocol on any conditions or under any circumstances.β
Wow! Not a lot of wiggle room there! I guess the Japanese got ticked that they didn’t win any of the “Fossil Of The Year” awards, and are trying to make a bold, early run for next years contest!

so did they say “ee-ay” with a happy face or a sad one? Or with a scowl and a vein bulging on their forehead?

From what i understand, it was with a “I can’t believe we listened to you idiots” facial expression!!! π

So that’s more of a “Dame yo!” or one of those no-expressions that usually get translated as cussing. π
