Martin Bashir… Idiot! UPDATE!
He says:
In fact, the whole thing could be in breach of a federal law because the United States Flag Code establishes important rules for the use and display of the stars and stripes, the flag of the United States. Under standards of respect and etiquette, it’s made clear that the flag of the United States should never be used for any advertising purpose whatsoever.
So anyone that drives a bus with a flag painted on it is “breaking the law”? I always knew Evel Knievel and his son Robbie were in fact criminals!!!!
When any of the other candidates were displaying a flag, or appearing with a flag, or anyone else uses a flag as a centerpiece, Bashir has not expressed that he’s been bothered by it and offended that someone is maybe ignoring the U. S. Flag Code. Pretty much every country star has a flag painted on their tour bus. He certainly didn’t speak out when Candidate Obama used the flag during his political campaign in 2008. No, it’s bad because Sarah Palin is doing it!
Does this mean that, since Bashir is suddenly so concerned about the treatment of the flag, will he, and anyone else who picks up this stupid attack on Palin, will now go on the record in decrying the Supreme Courts opinion that desecrating the flag is free speech, and will they now support the amendment to ban flag burning????
I’m betting that is a resounding “NO”!
PS. OK. Maybe it’s wrong to call Martin Bashir stupid. But he does work for MSNBC, and that isn’t known as a smart thing to do.
UPDATE: It’s worse than I thought. Apparently, a Brittish flag is mounted on everything in the Mother Land to help sell product! From my friendly Brit The Last Bass Player:

Fish have the Scottish flag on them (well, the packaging does, not the actual fish. Though that can happen) Meat has the union flag on it, and down in the Valleys of Wales I shudder to think: mountains and male voice choirs everywhere. Everywhere.

Ha! This is rich, coming from Martin. He’s from the UK! And not to put too fine a point on it, quite frankly we can’t MOVE for flags over here! Fish have the Scottish flag on them (well, the packaging does, not the actual fish. My sanctuary from this madness is bass guitars. Mmmm…bass guitars.

Don’t forget about the creepy interview with Michael Jackson. That’s really the only thing I remember Bashir from. I wanted to mention it in my post, but simply couldn’t figure out how to work it in.
