Because all economies have performance issues!!!

Hat Tips to superb KMJ talkshow host Chris Daniel, who aired the audio last night, and to Insta-P, who posted the video this morning.

A Video – Dedicated To Me!!!!

Shit, it’s almost my life story!

I have discovered the existence of Tim Minchin. Hat Tip simultaneously to the good folks at The Skeptics Guide To The Universe, who interviewed TM on the latest Podcast, which I listened to just last night, and a commenter at Althouse, who posted a very funny TM beat poem this morning, about, coincidentally, the dangers of being a skeptic at a cocktail party.

Here’s another video. It’s pretty much Not Safe For Work.

Janet Jackson, Eat Your Heart Out

This happened during the SuperBowl, and aired in Tuscon AZ:

Just after the last touchdown by the Cardinals, with 3 minutes to go in the game, approximately 30 seconds of pornographic material was shown, seen by an unknown number of Comcast customers in Tucson, Arizona who were watching the game in standard definition

And the network have revised the rating numbers and now say this Bowl was the highest rated ever!!! Maybe some viewers in Tuscon made some calls to friends outside the state telling them what they were seeing, which caused a last minute ratings spike.

Hey Now, Hey Now! (for Cliffie, Kevie, Bridget, and especially Paul)

As many of my friends know, after twenty-three years of playin bass, I am FINALLY learning to play guitar. One of the first songs I decided to learn was Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream It’s Over”. It’s pretty simple, and since I am a huge Neil Finn fan, I know the song by heart… well, in my head anyway. While trying to look for the the chords on the internet, I stumbled upon a guy calling himself “farginbastich”. Holy Cow! This guy is now one of my inspirations. He’s got tons of songs he’s done, and he has one of THE SWEETEST VOICES I think I’ve ever heard!!!

Enjoy!

PS. Me and Paul became friend many many years ago, in part, due to our passion for all things Neil Finn. When I’m in San Diego we drive all around town and sing two part harmonies to the entire Crowded House catalog.

Car Love – Ronald Reagan’s Subaru Brat!

Share Button

His 1978 Subaru Brat has been restored to its former glory.

WOW!!! Pretty!!! I had no idea he owned a Brat! Makes sense. He was a rugged individualist, and nothing says rugged individualist like a Subaru Brat. Yet more proof Reagan was smarter than liberals give him credit for. (JK )

Being a Subaru fanatic, this makes my day! I always had a soft spot for the Brat. Such a unique car… er, truck… er, whatever. For those who don’t remember, the Brat had jump seats in the back of the bed, exposing you to the elements.

I can remember more than one Boy Scouts camping trip, riding in the back of my Junior Scout Master’s white 1980 Brat, Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” blasting from the 8 watt stereo, almost freezing my orbs off. But that was part of the fun. Subaru was a pioneer of Shift-On-The-Fly 4 Wheel Drive. Sure the engine was not the most powerful thing in the world, but like most Subies in those days, shift into low gear 4WD, they could go anywhere. People often freaked when they saw the location of the spare, a feature common on Subaru’s up to the 90’s.

Like I said – unique!

The BRAT was featured in the Burt Reynolds movie Hooper.

Ah… Those were the days.

A few years ago Subaru tried to recapture the Brat magic with the Baja, but it just wasn’t the same..

BTW, I own two Subies – Murphy, the $500 87 Turbo Wagon, and Red, the 94 Legacy Alpine Wagon (heated seats ROCK!!!) I buy broken down Sub’s for nothing, then fix them up and their good to go. Subaru’s are by far one of the easiest cars to work on… Period. They are the automotive equivalent of Lego’s.

Hat Tip: My friends at Ultimate Subaru.Org

PS. Reagan’s restored Subie turned out great, but these, I’m afraid were beyond hope of saving. 2006 was not a good year for older Subarus.
