You’re wrong. Genesis *totally* sucks. “Land of Confusion” and “That’s All” are two of the most grating pop songs ever. Oh, yeah don’t forget the classic “Invisible Touch”… barf.
I’m a long time Genesis fan, and if this is all you know of them, you don’t know them. The last few album were a shadow of the group, and don’t represent what the group was. You have to go much further back in their history to know the scope of the bands music. Read more »
Someone in the press actually reported that Al Gore twisted facts in his speech at Dopenhagen (he was in Dopenhagen? I thought he wasn’t going to go). This is quite an amazing development, as in the past Gore could pretty much make upanythinghewanted and no one in the press would say “boo” about it.
Someone in the press…. challenging Al Gore on facts???? WOW! Now THAT’S real Climate Change!
I fixed Murphy, the $500 87 Subaru Turbo Wagon – replaced the front driverside halfshaft. I get great satisfaction when I give my car new life. That is the beauty of machines. You can bring them back. But real life isn’t like that. Last month, I lost a friend. It wasn’t someone I was close to, but still there was a connection, as there were a lot of shared high school memories, and he was in the same circle of friends that my sister and I shared an orbit with. I went to his service on Saturday, and shared a story about Brian, about the escapades that occurred in German class in high school. He would pass around a hat and collect money, go to the little market across the street, and bring back Doritos, Cheetos, and soda. That was German class much of the time, thanks to Brian. It wasn’t much of a story really. Again, I didn’t know him that well. There were others who were much more connected in his life than I. But I thought it would be nice to share this part of his life that some may not have heard about. In retrospect, Brian was someone I would have liked to have, and should have, known better. We lost a good one.
I’m going to do something none of us do as much as we should. I’m going to take this time to thank my family for everything they have given to my life (especially the music – even though we’re sometimes bizarre, God, I have a great family), and I want to thank my old friends (I will always cherish you guys), my band-mates, present and former (Cliff, Dan, Mike; I’m a better person and musician because you gave me the chance to play with such great musicians, and quality people that you are) and thank the new ones who have come into my life thanks to FaceBook (Beth, Mike, Jeanne, Bruce, etc). I want to especially thank Steve M. and Sylvia G., even through the turbulence, for being wonderful best friends all those years ago. I need to thank another friend who is no longer with us, Rob J, for teaching me how not to be afraid of my own life. Finally. to Greg… well, I can’t say enough.
OK, I’m turning the sappiness off now. Back to being a wise-acre!…
And NO, I’m not dying or anything. I just wanted to express my thanks to all of you. Now shut up and listen.
And yet, there is no actual “climate change” documented in the report. They mention “projected” sea level rise, yet there’s not one piece of evidence presented here that there already is sea level rise affecting the region. Maybe there is, but again, it’s not presented here, which tells me that whatever sea level rise there has been, it’s not measureable. The reporter does talk about cylone, but the link to increased or stronger cyclone and hurricane production has been debunkedover and over again. Flooding? Sure, but that is a natural feature of all deltas. That is why most deltas where humans have chosen to reside have some sort of flood controls built around them i.e. dykes and levees. Poverty? That is a man-made condition, not one of “Global Warming… I mean climate change.
Look, I know there is tons of pressure from your editors to do global warming…. er I mean climate change stories this week to ride the wave created by interest in Dopenhagen, but come on, if you’re going to write a piece on the affects of climate change on a region, please at least show effects of or actual damage from climate change.
One of the stated policies of the IPCC is to only use peer reviewed materials in their AR publications. Setting aside questions of peer review accuracy that have been raised due to Climategate, there are instances where they don’t stick to the stated goal. There was one instance where they used a no-peer reviewed graph to show temperature rise. To me, that wasn’t a big deal. But, thanks to the pro-political AGW RealClimate website, I recently became aware of another instance where the IPCC published a scientific prediction based on non-peer reviewed literature. The issue here is Himalayan glacier melt, and the time frame on which the glaciers are melting. Here is what the IPCC 2007 AR 4 report conveys: Read more »
Surprise! Party!

Party gone out of bounds!
Gone out of bounds!
Party gone out of bounds!

You know the world is coming to end when the B52’s can be seen as prescient!
But it gets better. Let me explain.
The world is in a weird place right now. So much confusion. So many questions. Ever since the CRU e-mails and code made their way onto the internet, the climate science / global warming cabal has found itself in a funk, and it’s ruining their little party! They want answers dammit! Some are now blaming the Russians for the hacking. I have another theory, and it’s a good one!
